Today, Owen Sound offers a vibrant downtown core with shopping, nightlife and homestyle to fine dining just a dinghy ride or short walk from the marina. Two of the most challenging golf courses in the region are within a twenty minute drive, including Cobble Beach Golf Links, named one of the “World’s Top 10 Best New Courses” by Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine.
Owen Sound is built around the harbour, an inlet of beautiful Georgian Bay. Originally known as Sydenham, the city sits at the mouths of the Pottawatomi and Sydenham Rivers and was a major port city for much of its history.
Picturesque Kelso Beach is just steps away, home to children’s parks, sports facilities, a concert amphitheatre and more. A walk downtown takes you to grocery stores, specialty shops, restaurants, the LCBO and The Beer Store. A short drive could take you up the Bruce Peninsula, into the heart of Grey County, or out to Sauble Beach, a seven-mile stretch of sand, surf, and sun along Lake Huron.
